Invasion of the Boyfriend Snatchers

10 08 2006

Could it be that he’s had a revelation?  Could something I said to him over the last week have finally made an impact?

The last two nights consecutive, the house was clean.  I know some of you are saying, “big deal,” but in my case it means a lot.  I have mentioned to him before that if he’s home and I’m working, it would be nice if he chipped in and helped out, usually to no avail.  I’ve been leaving him notes the last couple mornings (thanks emmbie!).  So the last two nights I came home, he greeted me warmly with kisses and “how’s your day”s, dishes were washed, house was swept and picked up…..  I felt his forehead - no fever, how odd.

He is accustomed to falling asleep on the sofa, too, which has always upset me because when you live with someone, one of the perks is having that strong, warm body next to yours and a peaceful, resting face to see upon waking.  I am depressed when I wake up and he’s on the couch sleeping.  Left a note yesterday morning about it.  Last night, he came to bed.  [Granted, he watched TV and kept me awake wiggling like an earthworm next to me... but I'm not complaining! lol]  He said he didn’t want me to be sad.

He shaved.  The other night I teased him that the new facial hair trim he’d given himself looked “funny” - *ahem* - CUTE, and he said he liked it, seemingly annoyed that I was playing with him like that [patting it like a kitty - purrrrrrrrrr].  Last night, it was gone - clean shaven.  So it seems he’s making efforts to make our lives happier.  I know they’re small steps, but any steps that walk along the right path are meaningful ones.

Do you believe in pod people??  Can anyone tell me who stole my boyfriend?

I have a problem with my husband falling asleep on the couch too. (What’s with men and couches?) After I told him that I didn’t like that, he tries not to anymore. There are still times when I have to wake him up to sleep on the bed.

Well, I’m just glad that your boyfriend is trying to make changes in your relationship. He’s improving, as my sister’s boyfriend would say. I guess writing does go through to people who don’t want to talk.

Emmbie, I guess my girlfriend can relate to you because she has to wake me up too, but I have a good reason I work 3rd shift. It’s not like I do it on purpose it’s just that the chair is so comfy that I can’t help myself. I get home from work sit down in the chair to take off my shoes and the next thing I know my girlfriend is waking me up to come to bed.
